Today on the podcast I tried something different after being approach by a junior developer, Josh Brearly, who is currently working his way through his training with Code Nation. In this episode, Josh and I discuss the state of the tech market and what took him out of recruitment and into a development role.
Josh started out at a recruiter, Maxwell Bond, working in technology recruitment for both permanent and contract roles. The work was hard and the hours were long but he got to learn about the inner workings of the technology market and saw that there was a huge skills shortage for developers both in Manchester and the UK as a whole.
Josh wanted to run this as a bit of a ‘reverse interview’ so we delve into some of my own work history as a WordPress developer working for Salford University (my first contract back in 2012) through to my current position doing React, Typescript and Node development.
